PROBLEM: Height Restrictions
The semi-conductor equipment that we were contracted to crate weighed 25,000 lbs - and was worth over half a million dollars. The specs said that the shipment couldn't exceed 108" tall once it was created. So, how could we support this weight with wood beams (runners) without being over the 108" limit? SOLUTION: We laminated steel between the runners to add the necessary strength to the heavy duty skid. HOW WE DID IT: CDC has an in house metal shop where steel can be cut, drilled bent, de-burred, welded and painted. |

PROBLEM: Top Heavy
SOLUTION: Conventional construction called for wood supports bolted to the skid runners. However, the unusual shape and unequal weight distribution needed more security than wood supports could provide. So we made our own. HOW WE DID IT: We improved on the conventional method by adding custom metal brackets manufactured in house. The large hub sits between 2 short wood supports also supported by metal brackets.
